17TH OSPI MEETING – SHARING OF IDEAS AT THE CAPE OF GOOD HOPE

For the 17th time since the creation of the worldwide OCTANORM exhibition constructors network, its members met to set impulses for the future of the industry in various workshops, conversations and discussions.

Early December 2018, over 200 members of the OCTANORM Service Partners International network OSPI from 32 countries got together in Cape Town, South Africa to collaborate, network and exchange knowledge with their peers. For one week, current developments and future trends were discussed at length. In various workshops the participants shared their international experiences and advanced strategies. During a Silent Auction, donations were collected for the Hope and Light Community Welfare organization, which actively supports children in need. The next OSPI meeting is to take place in Portugal in 2021.

In order to get an impression of the different partners‘ worldwide projects, a stand design competition was arranged. Members could submit their work from the past two years in three different categories. The winners were Dohrns Exhibition & Events from Sweden with their exhibition stand for Nonuform and Projex Event from Dubai with their designs for the Abu Dhabi Government at Culture Summit 2018 and for Rotana at the ATM. „Thanks to many years of partnership between most of the members, topics can be discussed openly. Everyone benefits from each other‘s experience and has access to a huge pool of knowledge. This is particularly vital in projects across country borders, for nobody knows the market as well as your local partner,“ explains Thomas Gräter, CEO at OCTANORM. „When 200 experienced creative minds all pull together and develop ideas, they definitely set impulses for the future of the global exhibition market.“ In addition to the daily conferences, joint activities and experiences strengthened cohesion of the network - like, for example, a common celebration on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of OCTANORM in 2019. „We are so much more than just business partners. Many members also maintain private contact with each other. Our thanks go to all participants for this successful meeting, and we look forward to seeing everybody again in Lisbon, Portugal in 2021“, emphasizes Hans Bruder, Managing Director of OSPI GmbH.
